how do i get started?

I WANT THE HUNTING HOUSE TO WORK ON MY PROJECTS! WHERE TO NOW? +

That's such great news! So, first thing is always first, let's get in touch. The best way is to complete the form on our contact page, it will let us know a bit more about you and what you're after. Here's a little background into our ideal process moving forward - firstly we would receive a job brief from you, stipulating any specifics such as target audience, budget, deadlines etc. Next we work through a more detailed brief where we would establish a particular look and feel, content, colours and so on. We would then provide you with an estimate (if it's bespoke and outside of our inner circle packages). Once you've agreed to the estimate, we will send through an invoice for a 50% deposit. This will allow us to book the job into our team calendar, and get it under way!

WHAT ARE YOUR PAYMENT TERMS & YOUR PAYMENT OPTIONS? +

So we can get started ASAP, we do require a 50% deposit from new clients. The remaining 50% is paid on completion and delivery of your project. After your first project is completed and invoice is settled, a deposit is no longer required, and you are placed onto 7 day trading terms. We are, of course, open to discussing longer terms for larger companies and government sectors who require longer trading terms. Payment can be made online, and we accept all credit cards and EFT.

WHY DO YOU NEED A 50% DEPOSIT? +

When we take on a new job, we commit to you 100%. The deposit we require on acceptance of the estimate proves to us that you're also committed to us. After your first project is completed and invoice is settled, a deposit is no longer required, and you are placed onto 7 day trading terms. We are, of course, open to discussing longer terms for larger companies and government sectors who require longer trading terms.

CAN YOU COMPLETE URGENT JOBS? +

We would be lying if we didn't say our preference is to take briefings with ample notice to allow for a controlled production process, but we realise that this isn’t always possible. Erratic and changing workloads are part of the daily landscape in our industry. Scheduled jobs can be interrupted by urgent jobs, which can be interrupted by more urgent jobs.

We consider it our duty to communicate effectively with our clients to understand which jobs are most urgent, and to make it all happen in the timelines required. With the possibility of unexpected urgencies in mind, we do accommodate some flexibility within our daily schedules. This allows us to act on those urgent jobs that same day.

WE WANT TO WORK WITH YOU, BUT... YOU DO WORK FOR OUR COMPETITOR? +

We understand how important it is to be aware of what your competitors are up to, and although competition is great for business, you may be concerned if we are currently already working with one of yours. The good news is, you needn't be. We have such an amazing team of talented and diverse designers, so much so, that you can be guaranteed that there is enough ideas buzzing around in our head space to ensure your branding and collateral will always be kept unique. We genuinely respect your privacy and demonstrate discretion when dealing with your property, ideas and information. For your piece of mind, upon request, we can provide new clients with a signed Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA).

How long is the proofing process? +

We like to keep things rolling here so we ask that you provide feedback on any design proofs within a 2 week period. This is to ensure your project is delivered in a timely fashion and our design schedule doesn’t bottle neck so to speak. Any proofing that falls outside this 2 week time frame will need to be billed for work to date. But don’t worry we understand life gets busy, your project can always be picked up at a later date and completed.

Authors Corrections? What are they? +

Otherwise known as author amendments, client revisions, author alterations or basically client changes. This is a common component of graphic and web design, yet it's confusing to anyone who has not previously engaged a graphic designer. Our design estimates ALWAYS include 2 rounds of authors corrections, any further authors changes are billed in addition to the quoted price – more often than not at our rate of $100 + GST per hour. Every time we have to re-open your artwork and make changes as requested this is called a 'correction', and there will be costs for the time it takes to make these changes outside of the first 2 inclusive rounds.

The Hunting House includes the first two rounds of changes in the total estimate. We document (including full details and the date received) your revisions in our job management software and itemise the author corrections on your bill so you know exactly what we have billed.

Our advice to overcome unnecessary revisions and a large author corrections bill is to present us with final content, photos that you are 100% happy with and copy that has been extensively proofed, accompanied with a very clear brief.

branding identity

WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR BRANDING IDENTITY DESIGN? +

Our first step is to get to know you. We will ask you questions about what look and feel you are gravitating towards. We will ask you for direction and a brief of what you're after in your new brand. The next step is after our chat. We get our team together for a think tank, imagine a round table and freshly brewed coffee (with the occasional pot of tea). We do our research. About you, your industry, your competitors. 2-3 weeks later (and pages of sketching and a mood board) we present you with 3 concepts. The first one we create based on your vision, the other 2 we like to take in a different direction and present you with ideas you may not have considered. Occasionally clients get fixated on a direction and don't allow alternative ideas into their minds... it happens more often than you think. At the end of the day, we are designers, but we're also consumers.

Once you have narrowed down your choice to one we then refine your choice, referred to as the 'refinement of one design'. This involves basic changes to colours, secondary fonts, or occasionally combining elements from various concepts, but doesn't involve changing the concept of the logo itself.

WHAT DOES 'THE REFINEMENT OF ONE DESIGN' ENTAIL? +

Within the scope of our logo designs, we provide 2 rounds of ‘refinements’. When we speak in rounds, we are referring to the time spent interpreting your comments, suggestions and feedback. We always recommend that the most efficient way to utilise your rounds is to compile your feedback into a concise email. This ensures there isn't any mixed messages, that your rounds are used wisely, and we achieve your perfect brand in no time.

WHAT IS A MINI STYLE GUIDE? +

A mini style guide documents all the unique visual elements that make up your brand, this is so people and businesses using your brand in the future can present a consistent visual across the board.

When we supply you with your final logos we put together what we call a “logo suite”. Within this pack we supply you with an editable working file (AKA a vector image) called an eps (for use in design programs such as Adobe Illustrator), a pdf file and varying sizes of jpg and pngs. Should you need a specific file type or size outside of this suite simply let us know. We also include a document listing the colours for various uses and complementary fonts.

website design

WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR WEBSITE DESIGN? +

The first step is to provide you with our uptake form. This allows us to collate all the content, like a site map, information required for each page, a style guide and logo suite, links to your social media pages, login information for your domain etc. After we receive this brief from you we can get started on your design. We can’t commence work on your site until we have all this content. In our website packages we include a certain number of stock images. We can however recommend photographers and copywriters if you need a bit of expert help.

SO, WHAT IS A RESPONSIVE SITE? +

A responsive website is designed for 3 interfaces (desktop, tablet and mobile phone) ensuring your website will look as good on a mobile as it does on a desktop. This responsive feature is standard with every website we design and develop. A majority of customers will find you first on their mobile device, and a responsive site will provide them with a seamless experience when browsing online. Plus, Google now ranks responsive websites above those that are purely desktop. We probably only needed to tell you that!

CAN I UPDATE MY OWN SITE? +

Yes. The days where web agencies held you to ransom, overcharging you every time you wanted to make a minor change are thankfully all in the past.

We build all of our websites with a user-friendly CMS. A content management system (CMS) is software that keeps track of every little detail and asset on your website, and the benefit of our site’s CMS is that it requires very little to no technical skill to manage. All of our websites include a training package, which provide a customised lesson (in person or online) and a training manual.

WILL MY SITE BE SEO READY, AND IS IT SECURE? +

It sure is. Every site we build has a Google friendly SEO structure set up. Our sites also include SSL certification. This certification is critical for Google to mark your site as secure so as not to interfere with your Google ranking (both organic or paid). Having a Non-SSL site will discourage visitors from providing you with their information or purchasing a product from your website.

CAN YOU HELP WITH SEO AND GOOGLE ADWORDS? +

We don’t offer SEO services, but you can be assured that our sites contain features ready for SEO created using clean code, which is imperative as far as Google is concerned! If you are interested in pursuing SEM and SEO we can recommend a strategist that has yielded tangible and undeniably impressive results.
